Inspired by the recent online Tik Tok in which a number of women said they'd rather be trapped in the woods with a bear than a male stranger, a male bear has decided to test the waters by posting his profile on Match.com.
Representatives of the popular dating service say that this is the first known case of a bear signing up for their service or, for that matter, any dating service.
Intrigued by this bold move, I accessed a Match account and tracked down the profile, which was listed under the category “Men seeking Women.” Here it is.
Thackory, 9
From Santa Barbara Zoo
Describe Yourself
This is my first time on a dating app, so I'm a little nervous. I'm a friendly and experienced guy looking for my last first kiss. I’m mature, weigh about 20 pounds and am about 3 feet tall. I hope height is not an issue for you. Or facial hair. I have an excellent sense of smell. Originally from San Diego, I moved to Santa Barbara a few years ago. I’m willing to relocate for the right woman. I am very respectful to women. I would never stalk, mock, or assault anyone. Friends say I'm humble.
How Thackory enjoys his spare time:
Eating - I'm strictly vegetarian
Napping
Exploring mostly at night; I'm mainly nocturnal.
In a relationship, Thackory looks for:
A woman who is thoughtful, kind, and easy to communicate with. I bellow a lot. A facility with sign language is a plus. I'm familiar with both ASL and BSL.
Where Thackory feels most at home:
At home, of course. LOL. Also in forests and woodlands. But I'm also comfortable in any home with a large backyard. I can sleep most of the day on a firm bed or on a living room couch.
If Thackory had one wish:
World peace.
This makes Thackory laugh:
When women say how adorable I am and that they want to take me home with them.
Thackory is really passionate about:
Eucalyptus. Also, cuddling.
Thackory enjoys these activities the most:
Long walks in the woods. Climbing. Sunsets.
Occupation: Bear
Smoking Habits: Never
Drinking: Never; get all my liquid from eucalyptus.
Religion: Agnostic
Wish for children: No. Already have three joeys
Education: Mama Bear didn't raise no fool
At last report, Thackory had received 87 replies from women, including 32 “smile” emojis, 16 messages saying “Hi,” one message from a woman who said she was just about to discontinue her subscription to MATCH, but before she left she would like Thackory to disclose his e-mail address and telephone number. The rest were private messages the contents of which neither Thackory nor MATCH would disclose.
First Red Flag: Species Impersonation! A "bear" wearing the disguise of a Koala - which we all know is a marsupial!
Go on Match and actually read men’s profiles. And ask yourself what percentage would appeal to women. Not many.
