The Huge Protest in Sarasota, Florida

Small city, very large crowd

The city of Sarasota, Florida, has a population of about 58,000. It voted for Trump in 2024. And it hosts a MAGA coven of human detritus that includes Michael Flynn.

But there are a significant number of people here who hate Trump, Musk, and the whole gang of MAGATs 🪱 that's trying to destroy our democracy.

Protests here often draw dozens or, at most, hundreds of people. Today, by my estimate, around 2,000 people turned out. 👏

People were lined several thick for several blocks along the town’s busiest road, U. S. 41.

After about 90 minutes, the crowd marched right up busy Main Street, surprising those dining at sidewalk tables. The culmination was a rally at the Federal Building, shown in the photo below.

NOTE: While there are a lot of retirees in Sarasota, the town is home to several colleges. There is a vibrant young population here, too. And families.

After protesting, this couple stopped for a beer break. Gotta hydrate.

Hope that gives you a feel for the enthusiasm in just one small, red-dominated city. No one's spirit is broken. Here, MAGA can go screw itself.
