Rosalynn Carter Responds to Governor Greg Abbott's Letter
From a righteous Christian to another Christian
Heaven
December 31, 2024
Dear Governor Abbott,
Thank you so much for writing to me to send your prayers and deepest condolences to me and the Carter family on the passing of my beloved husband, Jimmy.
As you know by now, I'm up here in Heaven. The United States Postal Service does not deliver letters here directly, so it has taken me a little longer than it used to, to acknowledge your kindness.
First, let me set your mind at ease. At the moment of Jimmy’s passing, he immediately joined me here in Heaven.
Yes, we are a bit disappointed that neither of us will be able to do any more good works for humanity down there on earth.
But we are both overjoyed at our reunion up here and our communion with the Holy Spirit. So you need not spend any more precious hours down there fervently praying for us or suffering any more days of deep sadness. :-)
While I have your attention, I'd like to encourage you in your own mission “to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
From what Jimmy has told me about your life on earth, I understand that many of the actions you have taken—all in good faith, I trust—have resulted in much unhappiness and harm to a large number of good people of all faiths.
As a firm believer in redemption, I do not think it is too late for you to redeem yourself and earn a place up here in Heaven.
My suggestion, which I hope you will accept in the spirit in which it is given, is that you turn your life around by leaving your chosen profession at the soonest opportunity.
Instead, and in light of the magnitude of harms that you have—unwittingly of course—visited upon humanity, I suggest you endeavor to continue the good work at Habitat for Humanity that Jimmy and I began. Many good people still deserve proper homes.
I understand that you are confined to a wheelchair due to a crippling disability. However, I believe that there are many opportunities at Habitat for a man of your perseverance and stamina.
Based on your previous history, I also believe that 50 years of such good works should be sufficient to redeem yourself. I think - - -
Please excuse me! Jimmy is reading this letter as I write it and he has interrupted me to suggest that 75 years would be a better estimate.
Perhaps it would be best to average our two suggestions and set it at around 62 years.
In any case, Jimmy and I both wish you and your family a healthy and happy new year.
Sincerely,
Rosalynn Carter
P.S. Please seriously consider my suggestion.
Don’t have any expectations of change for abbott. He only has hate in his body and soul. The texas legislature meets again this month. He will continue to starve our public schools so he can get his vouchers. Those vouchers will never be enough money to cover private school tuition. There is rainy day fund of billions of dollars that he will use to do more harm to the people in this state including using a ranch to house drumpf’s round-up of good and decent people. He is up for re-election in 2026 as well as his good buddy and also criminal, paxton. Time to get rid of both of them, but I am not optimistic. But that has not stopped me from trying to get rid of them, for the betterment of the state in which I live but no longer love.
Trump should not be invited to Jimmy Carters funeral. Carter was the epitome of integrity, honor & intelligence. The exact opposite of everything about Trump. Trump would desecrate the sacred ceremony.
